The intellectual property subsidiary of Mentor, Ohio based DCR Systems LLC (www.DCRsystems.net) has been granted patent number “US 8,943,999 B2” for the design of a unique paint spray booth system that enables the collision repair operations within the company's nationwide network to vastly increase the volume of painted automotive components moving through the repair process.
The patented system, developed by DCR Intellectual Property Company, LLC, was designed to maximize the utilization of space within an extended paint booth that is combined with an offset rail system, allowing for multitasking within the paint process as operators can work simultaneously on several painted pieces without concern of cross contamination or other factors that disrupt the painting process.
“Conventional paint booths are typically limited to just one car or a total of its components” explained Michael Giarrizzo, Jr., President and CEO of DCR Systems and developer of the paint booth patent. "Our re-designed refinish system alters the size and configuration of the production zone, streamlines the paint process, and significantly increases the capacity of a single cabin paint booth."
The company's current turnkey accident repair centers, which it operates for its dealer network, have been retrofitted to the new paint booth design, according to Giarrizzo. Presently, DCR Systems operates centers in Ohio, New York, North Carolina and Massachusetts.
DCR Systems has spent the past decade reinventing the collision repair process, and is widely heralded as a pioneer in the utilization of lean production principles on the shop floor to create a process centered environment. Giarrizzo's vision to incorporate highly efficient process designs that lead to profitable collision repair operations has opened the doors for his company to partner with top auto dealerships and dealer groups nationwide to build and operate dealer-based accident repair centers alongside their new car showrooms to increase customer offerings and boost dealer revenue.
Formed in 2007, DCR Intellectual Property Company, LLC patented a process-focused collision repair operating model developed by DCR Systems. The objective of DCR's intellectual property arm is to license the operating model to collision industry participants. The system can be licensed as either a single-user license or for multi-location industry participants as a long-term area development and master license agreement.
