Jan.23, 2018—The Boyd Group has now grown Gerber Collision & Glass to over 500 locations across North America, and plans to double its business by 2020.

Gerber eclipsed the 500 mark after acquiring two collision repair shops in Collier County, Fla. The centers were previously operated as Autocraft Enterprises and Autocraft Naples located on Marco Island and Northern Naples.

Back in October 2017, FenderBender spoke with the owner of Autocraft Collision Centers, Ernie Bordon, about his main tactic on fighting consolidation, which was focusing with your own business. His strategies  included effective employee retention, achieving leading KPIs and giving great customer service.

Both shops combined brought in $6 million back in 2017 and had a total staff of 36. According to Bordon, when MSOs came to his market, he didn’t change anything except for focus on his own business.

As of this January, Gerber acquired the locations, which makes more than 60 facilities in Florida.
