Dec. 28, 2012—The Automotive Lift Institute (ALI), a trade association of North American automotive lift manufacturers, recently launched an online database for lift inspector testing locations through its new Lift Inspector Certification Program.
ALI said the database allows participants with its Lift Inspector Certification Program to find local testing sites where they can take their pre-course and course examinations. Testing sites can be found by state or ZIP code, and are located in most major U.S. cities. The database can be found at goamp.com.
“This is a really easy way for someone to take the final steps on the path to becoming an ALI Certified Lift Inspector,” said R.W. O’Gorman, president of ALI. “The ALI Lift Inspector Certification Program is brand new and we want to make things as convenient as possible to encourage people to participate. You can even register for your test online once you find your location. With multiple testing sites, applicants can take the exams at a time and place that works for them.”
ALI developed its Lift Inspector Certification Program in June in response to growing demand from businesses that use vehicle lifts and governmental health and safety organizations that monitor them. ALI said annual vehicle lift inspections conducted by a qualified automotive lift inspector are required by the ANSI national standard, and are also included in U.S. and Canadian governmental regulations.
O’Gorman said ALI’s certification program provides third-party verification that a Certified Lift Inspector has been tested, and has proven competence to inspect an installed vehicle lift for suitability of continued use, maintenance and repair.
