Repairers to Hold Informational Meeting about Insurer Litigation

Sept. 4, 2014

Sept. 4, 2014—Pennsylvania shop owner Ron Perretta has organized an informational meeting for repair professionals in his area to learn more about the recent legal actions taken against insurance carriers.

The meeting is scheduled for Sept. 20 at the Holiday Inn in Fort Washington, Pa.

“I believe that we no longer have to sit back and take only what insurers want to feed us. Help is not far away and I'm willing to spend the time to help our industry take back control,” Perretta, owner of Professionals Auto Body in central Pennsylvania, said in a release. “Whether you are DRP or not, I want to plan a meeting of all shops and vendors who might be interested in being compensated properly, repair vehicles correctly, increase profits, and allow you to buy the parts wherever you want to.”

The first meeting will discuss issues relating to PartsTrader, compensation for repairs, and steering.

Also on the agenda is reviewing the details of the multi-district litigation by repairers in Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee, Indiana, Utah and Louisiana against some of the nation’s largest insurance carriers, and the other states that are looking to join in. There will also be a discussion about the Louisiana Attorney General’s action against State Farm.

“Even though we are competitors, we are still on the same side of the fence and our combined force can make a difference,” Perretta said.
