Axalta Launches New Product

Oct. 25, 2016

Oct. 25, 2016—Axalta Coating Systems has launched Volatex 1175W-1K, a one-component self-bonding electrical steel varnish.

“Volatex 1175W-1K provides users with increased product reliability, more efficient processing and very user-friendly handling,” said Frank-Rainer Boehm, global technology manager for Axalta’s energy solutions business. “An effective self-bonding one component varnish requires a highly sensitive and well-controlled crosslinking system to ensure that that the coating’s application, drying and hardening all work well. Achieving that has always been a challenge chemically. Traditionally, it has taken advanced two-component waterborne formulations to deliver the required self-bonding performance—until now.”
