Giving Thanks

Recognizing the finest professionals in collision repair

When was the last time you acknowledged a job well-done at your shop—the last time you thanked a colleague for their work, or told someone how much they contribute to your operation’s success?

If you have to think about it, it’s probably been too long.

It’s very easy to get caught up in the daily grind, and even more so in the problems that come along with running a business. Your role can quickly resemble that of a firefighter if you let it, and before you know it, you’ll be so immersed in dousing flames that you’ll forget some of the primary tactics for preventing them in the first place: encouragement, recognition and motivation of your team.

We write a lot about the importance of culture and as simple as it sounds, I don’t think it can be stressed enough that a happy staff is invaluable to your bottom line. This issue of FenderBender celebrates the concept of acknowledging the collision repair professionals who contribute tirelessly to their businesses, communities and the industry at-large.

It is an annual reminder of the incredible achievements of individuals in positions spanning the industry—a way to give thanks on a grand stage.

I want to thank everyone who nominated someone for a FenderBender Award this year. This industry is full of deserving individuals and narrowing the field to five is always a challenge. But the thoughtful, glowing remarks nominators make about their peers also makes the process a pleasure each year.

We plan on sharing more stories about nominees in a new, monthly section next year. Stay tuned for more information in the coming months. And in the meantime, think about the people you work with who are deserving of a FenderBender Award nomination. We’ll begin accepting nominations for next year’s awards right away at
fenderbenderawards.com.

Switching gears, the 2014 SEMA Show is coming up fast and we will once again be providing comprehensive coverage from the show floor.

The editorial team will be there each day producing videos, news articles and photos covering the hottest products, brightest industry minds and latest happenings from the largest automotive aftermarket event in the nation. And it’s coverage tailored specifically for you, the collision repair professional.

To make sure you don’t miss any of the action, sign up for our free event newsletter at
fenderbenderlive.com. Our coverage begins Nov. 3 and runs through Nov. 7. And if you’re going to be at SEMA this year, be sure to stop by our booth at 11186 in North Hall.
