Sherwin-Williams, Richard Childress Announce Signature Series Truck Partnership

Nov. 17, 2014

Nov. 17, 2014—Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes has announced a partnership with Richard Childress Racing.

“We have been using Sherwin-Williams products for a long time at RCR,” Richard

Childress, chairman and CEO of Richard Childress Racing, said in a release. “They provide quality paints which have made our race cars look impressive to us and our partners. Everyone raves how great they look on the track and television.”

The duo paired up to unveil one of 25 custom vehicles at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The limited series vehicles off-road trucks will feature an original GM-OE based black matte finish with Sherwin-Williams ULTRA 7000 black matte topcoat on all trim and painted accessory pieces. Demonstrating the complexity of this project, the new matte black finish requires the truck to be almost completely disassembled, painted and put back together. All the paint is then sealed by Sherwin-Williams 727 matte clearcoat.

American Luxury Coach customized the 25 trucks, from the Chevrolet Z92 line with a 6.2-liter engine. They all will feature a GM high-performance supercharger, 6-inch lift including the Ducks Unlimited package among other customizations. In addition, for every vehicle sold, a portion of the proceeds will go to assist the wildlife conservation organization.
