Study: Global Lithium-ion Battery Market to reach $25B by 2017

Lithium-ion batteries are currently used in consumer electronic devices like mobile phones and notebook PCs. The report released by Research and Markets, “Global Market for Lithium-Ion Batteries – Forecast, Trends & Opportunities 2013-2020,” predicts that lithium-ion batteries will be used for automotive products in electric vehicles and in storage applications in the future, leading to a growing market.

TDK Corporation, Samsung SDI Co. Ltd., LG, Panasonic and Hitachi are some of the biggest players in the industry with South Korean firms aggressively winning market share.
