Collision Parts Price Index Experiences Increase in 2014

March 1, 2015

The 2014 Mitchell Collision Parts Price Index, which tracks the rate of inflation for the entire market of parts, saw a typical increase across all parts types in 2014, according to data from the Mitchell Estimating database. Aftermarket parts experienced the largest index increase, which Mitchell attributes to the grade of part being chosen, not changes in the exchange rate. Mitchell expects that the continued rise will increase the opportunity to repair parts and could improve insurer discussions, as savings once obtained by used parts might no longer be as significant.
