SCRS to Host Repairer Roundtable on Impact of Auto Technology

March 20, 2014

March 20, 2014—The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) will host a Repairer Roundtable meeting on April 9 at the Red Lion Hotel in Portland, Ore.

The discussion, which will run from 8:30–11 a.m., will begin with a discussion on the growing use of alternative materials and repair designs found in today’s vehicles, and how those design changes are influencing how industry professionals need to approach collision repair. Dave Gruskos of RAE Inc. will lead the presentation.

"It is our belief that starting this discussion on a strong foundation of information will create some really substantial dialog around the issues our industry is facing in this area," shared SCRS executive director Aaron Schulenburg. "Dave is an excellent resource to expose our members and guests to the current technology boom we are seeing, and to underscore the requirements associated with preparation as these advanced high-production models enter our repair businesses. There is a great deal of commitment and investment involved in the pursuit of capability, and understanding what is, and will be, expected of repairers will help in the development of individualized strategy to serve the market."

The day prior to the roundtable, April 8, SCRS will also hold its open meeting from 3–5 p.m., and its annual election from 5:15–5:30 p.m. The SCRS Industry Awards and Corporate Member Recognition Lunch follows the roundtable discussion at 11:15.

The SCRS events are being held just prior to the start of the Collision Industry Conference, which starts at 1 p.m. on April 9.

The roundtable is a continuation of the series the SCRS started in 2012.

Held in different locations across the country with rotating hosts, the intent is to create a forum catered specifically to collision repair professionals with conversational agendas that promote healthy dialog surrounding the issues of most importance to their businesses.
