NABC Opens Nominations for 2014 Recognition Awards

March 4, 2014

March 4, 2014—Nominations are now being accepted for the National Auto Body Council’s (NABC) 2014 Award of Distinction and Body Shop Image Award, which are meant to recognize collision repair professionals who have made positive impacts on the industry and their individual communities.

“The collision repair industry is a dynamic profession that continually adapts to best address the challenges facing it,” said Chuck Sulkala, executive director of the NABC. “As our industry moves forward, it makes great sense to have awards promoting it. The Award of Distinction and the Body Shop Image Award serve to shine a bright light on the best the industry has to offer.”

The NABC said its Award of Distinction will be presented to an individual or industry group that “selflessly contributes to the world” through philanthropy, charity or selfless acts of kindness. Any individual, business organization or group that works in a collision industry-related segment—such as collision repair facilities, vehicle manufacturers, suppliers, vendors, educators, insurers, independent appraisers or trade associations—are eligible to be nominated for the award.

The NABC said its Body Shop Image Award is meant to recognize the beneficial impact that an attractive, well-designed collision repair facility can have on its surrounding community. Any body shop that completes a facility remodeling project during the 2014 calendar year is eligible to be nominated for the award. One winner and three runner-ups will be selected by the NABC Award Committee based on the most significant improvements made to the nominated shops' interiors and exteriors.

“Body shops across the country continue to remodel their buildings and surrounding environments to make them more pleasing to the eye and, as such, are an asset to the neighborhoods in which they are located,” said Kent Seavey, chair of the NABC’s awards program. “The National Auto Body Council feels this award has become one of the more important awards to draw attention to the striking, modern and often beautiful designs that have become a part of today’s collision repair industry. We want to bring the cause to every shop across the country.”

Winners of both the Award of Distinction and Body Shop image Award will be announced at the November Collision Industry Conference (CIC) meeting during the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Each finalist will also be featured through the NABC website, member newsletter, and other publicity efforts.
