Florida Shop Sues 21st Century for Fourth Time in Two Years

Sept. 16, 2013

Sept, 16, 2013—Eddie Quintela, owner and president of Collision Concepts in Delray Beach, Fla., has filed a lawsuit against 21st Century Insurance on behalf of a customer. It’s the fourth such suit Quintela’s filed in the past two years.

In 2012, Quintela filed three separate lawsuits against 21st Century after they denied payments. 21st Century agreed to pay the claims before the trial date, and also paid all of Quintela’s legal fees.

“As in the past with this company, they pay us only after we file suit but before they go before a judge and jury. Thereafter they pay in full for every needed material, process and rates for a while, then abruptly change back to their old ways,” Quintela said. “I’m puzzled. Since the insurer has often paid 20 times the amounts in dispute, often paying upwards of $2,500 in legal fees and costs for a dispute that may be under $100.”
