June 11, 2014—PPG Automotive Refinish announced Tuesday that it has released an enhanced version of its PaintManager Program for its RapidMatch X-5 spectrophotometer and software workflow.
RapidMatch software and the spectrophotometer work together as a color formula retrieval workflow process aimed at increasing efficiency and formula match accuracy.
The new software enhancement will not require any hardware changes for those who already have the equipment, according to Mary Kimbro, PPG’s global color director. Collision centers with the hardware will need to update their current PaintManage software to take advantage of the update.
“We have been able to successfully create a higher industry standard for color matching,” said Kimbro. “The RapidMatch X-5 spectrophotometer and our new optimized software—with all its upgrades—work together to make the PPG system more effective and efficient than ever.”
The new software includes a redesigned landing page with a simplified search for color information, which is aimed at eliminating the need for separate OEM and wildcard searches. it also predicts if the target color is a solid or metallic, and has options to track customer information for each repair.
