GCIA Selects NABR to Conduct Labor Rate Survey

June 16, 2014

June 16, 2014—The Georgia Collision Industry Association (GCIA) has selected National AutoBody Research Inc. (NABR) to conduct a statewide labor rate survey, according to an Auto Damage Experts press release.

Auto Damage Experts is a post repair inspection and diminished value assessment service provider.

This year will be the first the GCIA will work with NABR to take advantage of their variable rate system. In the past, GCIA has worked with other organizations to calculate the average labor rate for collision repairers annually.

The variable rate system is aimed at providing tools to determine accurate rates for each repairer based on factors like the repairer’s cost of doing business, certifications, training, equipment and quality.

“Performing a survey which merely provides an ‘average’ rate is already being conducted by the nation’s largest private auto insurer of which other insurers often employ,” said Barrett Smith of Auto Damage Experts. “Applying a ‘one-fits-all’ labor rate for all repairers, regardless of the quality and services offered is simply unrealistic and unjust.”
