June 27, 2014

June 27, 2014—AkzoNobel, a coatings and chemicals maker, announced Wednesday it will move its Automotive & Aerospace Coatings (A&AC) Vehicle Refinishes segment to Troy, Mich.

The company anticipates the move from its current location in Norcross, Ga., to Troy will be finished by March, 2015. The relocation will bring around 60 new jobs to the area.

The new headquarters will be located at 1845 Maxwell Street, about 22 miles from Detroit.

“Detroit and the surrounding areas represent the historical heart of the North American automotive industry,” said Doug Holmberg, A&AC director of North American Vehicle Refinishes. “Our labs and manufacturing facilities are currently located in Troy and Pontiac respectively. Locating the functional teams and regional leadership in the same geographical proximity creates a more productive, collaborative and aligned team.”
