DuPont offers two new paint and material systems courses

June 14, 2011

June 14, 2011 — DuPont Performance Coatings (DPC) on Monday announced the introduction of two new courses meant to help repairers maximize workflow and optimize paint and material profit margins.

The Optimizing Paint and Material Systems courses were designed for workers in paint and production and general manager roles.

The first course will teach participants simple problem solving skills and give them tools to identify flow or profitability related problems, the causes of those problems and sustainable solutions. The course will also cover how to build and refine quality and work standards for each department. After the discussion, participants will review DPC's “systems approach” and learn an ROI analysis for reviewing the company’s best practices.

The second course will examine accounting practices for jobber invoice coding, inventory management, month-end procedures and material budgeting, and will cover DPC's lean systems for managing inventories using a leveling or kanban fulfillment system. It will also offer insight on how to properly justify paint labor and items related to paint and material sales.

“Both courses are highly interactive and feature exercises to prepare attendees to return to the repair center to implement the concepts learned,” said Steve Trapp, collision services development manager for DPC. “With many customers upgrading to DPC brand waterborne products, it is a great time to evaluate the systems and learn innovative best practices from our lean implementation efforts and other continuous improvement exercises, which can improve work flow and optimize paint and material profits for our customers using a DPC brand product.”
