July 7, 2016—In an effort to better understand the needs of collision repairers, General Motors announced Tuesday that it released a survey to help it make changes and improvements to support the collision repair industry.

The goal of the survey is to understand the process of how collision repair shops access and use OEM repair procedures.
GM says the collision industry is “in the midst of a technical tsunami” that is affecting the collision industry. Aluminum, high and ultra-high strength steel, carbon fiber, adhesive joining, new welding techniques, crash avoidance systems and other changes are forcing repairer to rely on OEM procedures more than ever.
“I would encourage all collision repair technicians, owners, estimators and managers to take the survey that GM has out right now for collision repair,” Mike Anderson, owner of Collision Advice and FenderBender columnist, said on the FenderBender Facebook page. “This is a survey where GM wants to hear from collision repairers. Let your voice be heard.”
GM is encouraging the industry to share the survey with any body shop. It says the more feedback it gets, the better it can serve industry needs. The survey will be open through the end of July.
