ARA Expands Headquarters to D.C.

Dec. 14, 2012

Dec. 14, 2012—The Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) has established new headquarter operations near the U.S. Capitol in the District of Columbia in order to better advocate for industry-related agendas.

With offices in D.C., the ARA said its staff will have improved abilities to advance policy proposals through multiple daily meetings at the Capitol and continuation of association-specific business between meetings. The organization said it can now more easily lead discussions and negotiations with policymakers and federal agencies in the automotive and insurance sectors.

“This new ARA Washington presence will result in policymakers being educated regularly and in person about automotive recyclers’ business models, which will in turn drive better policy decisions for ARA members," said Michael Wilson, CEO of the ARA. “While our Virginia headquarters location, purchased in 2009, has excellent commuter rail access into Washington, the logistics for our professional staff to schedule several meetings one right after another on a given day and to be ready at a moment’s notice to represent the profession at in-person meetings is not always practical. This new ARA office location will provide a place to continue business operations in between meetings on Capitol Hill and in the boardrooms of Washington offices.”

The ARA represents the interests of more than 4,500 auto recycling facilities throughout the U.S. and 14 other countries worldwide.
