3M Introduces New Products

July 27, 2015

July 27, 2015—On Friday, 3M introduced a slew of new products for cutting and grinding, paint defect removal, and the Perfect-It EX Finishing System.

The new line of cutting and grinding products, the 3M Cubitron II, combats the demands placed on collision repair shops today. The Cubitron II performs 30 percent faster and lasts twice as long while leaving a finer finish. The Cubitron II features precision-shaped grain technology that form sharp peaks that easily “slice” through paint and filler, even high-strength steel and aluminum. As the triangular shaped ceramic grain wears, it continuously fractures to form sharp points and edges that slice cleaner and faster, stay cooler and last twice as long. The 3M Cubitron II goes beyond the cutting and grinding process and includes paint removal, body filler shaping, feather edging, and primer sanding with the 3M Cubitron II Clean Sanding Hookit Discs in grades 40 to 220.

The 3M Paint Defect Removal Hand System removes defects before buffing, reduces scratches and produces an overall finer finish. The advantages to this new system include a smaller repair area, dry or wet sanding options, a color-coded system to ensure the proper grades of abrasive, all included in a well-organized kit. The system utilizes a wide variety of abrasives that are color-coded for sanding grades. The abrasive comes in  circular, rectangular and card shapes to easily attach to the recommended 3M accessories. The abrasives use pressure-sensitive adhesive to to attach to the matching hand-held blocks. The blocks and abrasives work together to quickly and easily target and sand away the defect, without affecting a large area. The system requires no experience to use.

The 3M Perfect-It EX Machine Polish is a high-tech polish formula that combines that latest innovations of minerals and chemicals. The new polish quickly and effectively buffs out compound swirls while reducing the frequency of having to reapply product after it dries on the surface. The product can reduce process time and provide a perfect finish. After refinement, the 3M Perfect-It EX Finishing System features the innovative 3M Perfect-It EX Rubbing Compound as the first step. It reduces paint finishing time and decreases cleanup time and it won’t stick to panels or leave flim. The Rubbing Compound provides faster cutting, longer working time with less sling, ease of handling and easy cleanup. The final step is with the 3M Perfect-It EX Ultrafine Machine Polish, which permanently removes fine swirl marks.

For small and medium-sized jobs, the 3M Perfect-It 1 Paint Finishing System provides all the great results of the 3M Perfect-it EX Family—without the compounding step. The advanced paint finishing system features 3M Trizact abrasives and 3M Perfect-It 1 Finishing Material. The 3M Perfect-It 1 Paint Finishing System replaces compounds and reduces time spent with heavy polishers with a 3M Trizact abrasive disc and DA sander. This new process delivers one-step, high-gloss finishing on today’s automotive paints.
