I-CAR Recognizes Instructor, Volunteer Achievements at Regional Conference

Feb. 10, 2014

Feb. 10, 2014—I-CAR held its North Central Regional Conference in Schaumburg, Ill., over the weekend, handing out a number of awards and hosting professional development and industry networking sessions.

The annual event is intended to recognize I-CAR’s instructors and volunteers for “the important work they do and their service and commitment to collision repair training,” the organization said in a release.

“The instructors and volunteers of I-CAR are the lifeblood of I-CAR’s 35-year legacy as a grassroots organization,” said Jeff Peevy, I-CAR senior director of field operations and segment development.

Greg Hagan was given the region’s  Lon Baudoux Instructor of the Year Award, which is presented to an I-CAR instructor who most exemplifies the I-CAR presence in the classroom through commitment to excellence and keeping pace with technology. Hagan, nicknamed “Pastor Greg” by many, runs a large dealership-based collision facility in Evansville, Ind.

“Pastor Greg has single-handedly shaped how folks experience training throughout the lower half of his home state. Always dedicated, Greg can be found at industry events and committee meetings,” explained Ed Mayer, I-CAR North Central regional manager. "It is an honor to recognize Greg Hagan as this year’s Instructor of the Year!”

The Founder’s Award, which is presented to one individual in each I-CAR region that most exemplifies the I-CAR “volunteer spirit,” went to Denny Posekany of Arnold Motor Supply in Iowa.

“Denny Posekany of Iowa is perhaps one of our most visible volunteers there. He has unique skills and patience and has demonstrated how well he is able to schedule classes in Iowa from East to West.” Mayer said. “We need more Dennys out there. He is an example for us all.”

Also during the event, I-CAR committee chairmen were recognized for their 2013 results.
