AAA goes to Busytown to campaign for child-passenger safety

Sept. 7, 2010

September 1, 2010—AAA and Richard Scarry’s Busytown Mysteries, an animated kids series, have announced a partnership to educate parents, children and caregivers about the importance of safe practices for child passengers.
Every year, more than 1,400 children die and thousands more are injured in a collision. Today more parents buckling up their children; however, research shows that three out of four car seats are not properly installed, according to an AAA press release_notes. The new campaign will use Busytown Mysteries characters in AAA travel guides and public service announcements.

"Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children," said Kathleen Marvaso, AAA vice president of public affairs. "With the potential to reach tens of millions through Busytown Mysteries, the safety messages on proper child restraint use will reach new audiences and help save lives."
