CARSTAR Lakeside Collision Uses Recycling Effort to Donate to Food Bank

Dec. 17, 2014

Dec. 17, 2014—For the fifth year in a row, CARSTAR Lakeside Collision in Mt. Laurel, N.J., has participated in the WMMR FM Preston & Steve Morning Show, Camp Out for Hunger.  The week-long food drive benefits Philabundance, the largest hunger relief organization in the Delaware Valley.

When the time comes for the annual food drive, the shop takes all of the scrap aluminum from cars they repaired throughout the year to be recycled. The money earned from the recycling effort was then used to purchase the 1,200 jars of peanut butter and jelly that they donated.

A total of $2,000 worth of food was loaded onto one of CARSTAR Lakeside Collision’s flatbed tow trucks and taken to the donation site, where the Preston & Steve Morning Show was broadcast throughout the food drive. This year, the Campout for Hunger food drive was able to collect a grand total of 420 tons of food and $110,517.27 in monetary donations.
