Akzo Nobel recognizes sustainable shops

March 8, 2011

March 8, 2011 — Akzo Nobel recently recognized three shops with its 2011 FIT Sustainability Award.

The award, in its second year, is given to shops using business practices that “meet the needs of the present without compromising the needs of the future.” FIT stands for focus, innovation and talent.

This year’s recipients: Mark’s Auto Body Ltd. in British Columbia, Moody’s Auto Body in Gorham, Maine, and LaFontaine Automotive Group in Highland, Mich.

“Our 2011 nominees visibly demonstrate the marathon nature of creating sustainable businesses,” said Mike Shesterkin, manager of sustainability and business process improvement for Akzo Nobel. “They are different in geographic locations, size, scope and focus regarding initiatives that they are undertaking. However, they are alike in that they all recognize a global need and share a common bond in their aggressive pursuit to deliver sustainable environmentally focused business solutions to the collision repair industry.”

The awards will be presented in July at the Akzo Nobel FIT Sustainability Awards Gala in Salt Lake City. That event will be held during the I-CAR Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair.
