Aug. 18, 2015—NAFA Fleet Management Association announced on Monday the formation of a new position that will focus on development for the NAFA Sustainable Fleet Accreditation Program. The program, designed to provide fleets with a way to assess their actions and progress on sustainability, was announced last April at NAFA’s Institute & Expo.
Alexander Barton will fill the new role for NAFA and hold the position of director of accreditation development. He returns to NAFA after an eight year absence where he was president of an Illinois corporation doing business as Green Transportation Solutions (GTS). GTS specializes in consultation with corporate and government fleet managers to incorporate vehicle technology and strategy into their fleets, while also helping with grants and tax incentives available at the state and federal levels.
During Barton’s time at NAFA he previously worked on business development, as well exhibits and sponsorships for the annual Institute & Expo. During that time, he helped NAFA launch the Green Zone pavilion, Green Fleet Ride & Drive and the Green Fleet Manager of the Year award.
“Having the opportunity to work with NAFA again is just a dream come true for me,” said Barton. “The new accreditation program drives real action and encourages engagement so it will provide much fulfillment for me both personally and professionally.”
