April Observed as Distracted Driver Awareness Month

April 28, 2016

April 28, 2016—The National Safety Council announced that it is observing April as Distracted Driver Awareness Month to spread awareness about the risks associated with distracted driving.

As written about in previous FenderBender articles, these campaigns can offer shops an opportunity to engage with customers and the community on a personal level

In 2014, 3,129 people were killed and more than 430,000 people were injured in accidents caused by distracted driving. Texting while driving was among the leading causes of distracted driving, leading to manual, visual and cognitive distraction.

The U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, National Transportation Safety Board, California Highway Patrol, California Office of Traffic Safety and Impact Teen Drivers are among the organizations that have partnered to help end distracted driving.

The National Safety Council is sharing resources on distraction.gov to help raise awareness for distracted driving.

Rear View Safety, a manufacturer of rear-view cameras and back-up sensors, invites everyone to take a pledge against distracted driving.
