PartsTrader to host charity golf event

Nov. 15, 2012

Nov. 15, 2012—PartsTrader on Thursday announced it will host a charity golf outing to raise financial support for Operation Comfort’s Automotivation program.

San Antonio-based Operation Comfort is a nonprofit organization that provides financial and therapeutic assistance to wounded U.S. military members who are receiving treatment at the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) and Audie Murphy VA Hospital. Operation Comfort’s Automotivation program allows wounded service members to rehabilitate through automotive-related activities—such as rebuilding and restoring cars, trucks and motorcycles—as a form of occupational therapy and career replacement.

PartsTrader is working with the National Auto Body Council (NABC) to raise money for the Automotivation program. In October, the NABC announced the launch of a $1.5 million campaign to purchase, renovate and equip a 30,000-square-foot accredited training facility to house the initiative.

All proceeds raised during PartsTrader’s golf outing, called “Golf Fore a Cause,” will be donated to assist the NABC’s efforts. The fundraiser will take place May 14 at The Glen Club in Glenview, Ill. The event includes breakfast, lunch, awards, raffles and several prizes.

"This is a perfect example of what we all can do as a company, repairer or vendor in the industry," said Chuck Sulkala, executive director of the NABC. "One's involvement is only limited by one's desire to help those who covered our back, and understanding that it is now time for us to do the same for them. We appreciate PartsTrader stepping up in a significant way to help get this fundraising effort off the ground and moving forward."

PartsTrader has also donated $25,000 to the NABC’s effort.

"Supporting our troops is near and dear to the team at PartsTrader," said Dale Sailer, vice president of business development at PartsTrader. "…we understand the sacrifice these brave men and women have made to preserve our freedom. We want to do our part to ensure that these proud Americans are cared for when they return home."
