SCRS’ RDE participation up 400 percent

Nov. 15, 2011

Nov. 15, 2011—The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) on Monday announced registration for its Repairer Driven Education (RDE) series during the 2011 SEMA Show increased by 400 percent compared to 2010, which was the inaugural year for the educational program.

The SCRS said the 2011 SEMA Show, and the increased participation in its RDE series, presented a convincing case that it has become the go-to destination for collision repairers wishing to stay abreast of latest technologies, learn about alternative revenue streams and obtain ideas on how to manage their businesses more efficiently and profitably.

The SCRS said that providing the type of education offered by its RDE series would not be possible without the group of sponsors that provided significant financial support. Sponsors of the 2011 RDE series included PPG Automotive Refinish, BASF, 3M, LKQ Corp., DuPont Performance Coatings, Alliance of Automotive Service Providers (AASP), Paint Body and Equipment Specialists, COLORMATCH and Collision Hub.

"PPG is pleased to be involved with SCRS and their RDE series for a second straight year at SEMA," said Domenic Brusco, senior manager of industry relations for PPG Automotive Refinish. "We are encouraged by the increase in attendance to the RDE classes, which speaks to their relevance and quality. SCRS' educational agenda provided practical instruction to improve collision repair businesses, which is complimentary to PPG's commitment to helping our collision repair customers flourish.”

"There is little question that the willingness of our sponsors to get behind RDE helped provide the traction that allowed the program to accelerate rapidly in this second year," said Aaron Schulenburg, executive director of the SCRS. "Their vision, foresight and willingness to provide integral resources for the series bodes well for RDE's long-term success. We're looking forward to building upon what we've achieved so far, and look forward to next year's SEMA Show with much anticipation."
