April 5, 2011 — In support of its role-based training model introduced last summer, I-CAR on Monday introduced equivalency testing, new online training courses, enhanced customer support tools and more user-friendly website features.
The equivalency testing gives repair professionals an opportunity to demonstrate mastery of content learned through previous experience or on-the-job training, according to a news release_notes about the new offerings. The tests will address ProLevel 1 knowledge, with passing scores fulfilling requirements toward I-CAR Platinum designation.
New online courses include Inspecting Repairs for Quality Control; Vehicle Identification, Estimating Systems and Terminology; and Aluminum Panels and Structures Damage Analysis. They will offer the same content as their in-person counterparts.
I-CAR customers can now purchase online and instructor-led courses on the same website. I-CAR also enhanced its Training Planner tool, to make managing role-relevant training simple and concise.
“Each of these offerings will enhance the value of the I-CAR Professional Development Program and make ‘training for your role’ more convenient and effective,” said John Van Alstyne, I-CAR’s president and CEO. “These offerings increase I-CAR’s ability to provide flexible training that is clearly aligned with achieving an individual’s or business’s industry-recognized designation.”
