Vermont and Georgia join 26 other states in banning texting while driving
June 8, 2010—Vermont and Georgia became the 27th and 28th states, respectively, to pass legislation banning text messaging while operating a motor vehicle.
The new law was effective as of June 1 in Vermont and will be effective in Georgia as of July 1.
