CREF to host ribbon-cutting celebration for 2011 Makeover grant winner

April 6, 2012

April 6, 2012—The Collision Repair Education Foundation (CREF) has invited all industry professionals to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Applied Technology Center in Rock Hill, S.C., in celebration of the school’s 2011 Ultimate Collision Education Makeover $50,000 grant.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held May 17 at Applied Technology Center. The school will display the tools, equipment, supplies and other items obtained through the $50,000 grant during the event. The event will also include presentations from school administration and CREF staff, meet and greet with students, tours of the facility and a breakfast prepared by the school’s culinary department.

The goal of the Ultimate Collision Education Makeover program is to honor a school that has been doing an outstanding job in educating students in collision repair, but is in need of financial assistance to improve their program’s teaching materials and equipment, the CREF said. As the winning school in 2011, Applied Technology Center received a total of $60,000 through additional donations made by collision industry professionals—$10,000 more than the original budget of the grant. More than 40 industry companies provided donations for the 2011 grant, according to the CREF.

“It is a rewarding moment for the industry to recognize Applied Technology Center, the recipient of the 2011 Ultimate Collision Education Makeover grant,” said Chris Northup, chairman of the CREF’s board of trustees. “The Collision Repair Education Foundation is thankful for the industry’s willingness to participate with our Makeover grant program and to give to those who need our collective help. We invite the industry to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony and celebrate our 2011 Makeover winner.”

Industry professionals who are interested in attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony must RSVP by contacting Melissa Marscin, assistant director of grant programs for the CREF, at [email protected].
