Bridgerland Applied Tech wins $50,000 grant

Nov. 9, 2010

Nov. 9, 2010—Bridgerland Applied Technical College in Logan, Utah, received the $50,000 2010 Ultimate Collision Education Makeover grant from the Collision Repair Education Foundation.

More than 50 schools applied for the grant that was presented at the 2010 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, according to Brandon Eckenrode, associate director of the Collision Repair Education Foundation. The foundation’s board of trustees selected the winning school.

The schools that did not win the grant still have the possibility of receiving supplies that are on their wish lists, said Eckenrode. The foundation is in the process of contacting the companies that appear on the schools’ wish lists, asking them to donate the specific items listed. In 2009, 32 schools applied for the grant, but the schools that did not win the grant still received $180,000 to split.

“This experience is incredible and the opportunities that will be presented to our school and students will be amazing,” said Kevin Cornia, Bridgerland instructor. “I look forward to working with Melissa Marscin of the Collision Repair Education Foundation, as well as the rest of the Education Foundation group, for this grant in this upcoming year.”
