August 23, 2010—The Women’s Industry Network pledged $10,000 over the next two years to the SkillsUSA competition in support of Kayla Toncik—a 2011 WorldSkills automotive refinishing contestant.
In 2009, Toncik became the first female gold medalist in the history of the SkillsUSA automotive refinishing competition and was also awarded the WIN NACE Scholarship, according to a WIN press release_notes. She will be competing at WorldSkills in October 2011, which will be held in London.
“A fundamental mission of WIN’s is to recognize and promote excellence among women in the industry and cultivate opportunities to attract more women,” said Kim White, chairwoman of WIN. “Kayla is a talented young woman who deserves this honor, and we are pleased to be able to assist in sending her to this world stage to compete with the best of the best and represent not only her country but the collision industry as well.”
