AMI accepting scholarship applications for NACE, CARS

March 16, 2010

March 16, 2010—The Automotive Management Institute (AMI) is accepting applications for six scholarships.

The scholarships will each award recipients $1,000 toward expenses to attend NACE and Congress of Automotive Repair and Service (CARS) events in Las Vegas Oct. 10-13.

The Automotive Video Inc. (AVI) Education scholarship was established to help automotive service professionals obtain the management education and technical training for success in today’s industry.

AVI will fund the scholarship using proceeds from its “Casino Night,” a fundraising effort held during AVI’s annual training conference.

The 2010 Emil Stanley Merit Award is awarded annually to an individual who works in an Automotive Service Association (ASA) Collision Division member-business and who displays a desire to improve their business skills through management education.

The annual Tom B. Babcox Memorial scholarship is awarded to an Automotive Service Association (ASA) Mechanical Division member who strives to be, or is currently working, in a management capacity.

The annual BodyShop Business Magazine scholarship is awarded to an Automotive Service Association (ASA) Collision Division member who strives to be, or is currently working, in a management capacity.

The Richard Cossette/Gale Westerlund Memorial scholarship honors the contributions these individuals made to AMI, ASA and the collision repair industry.

The Zurich “High Octane” scholarship is awarded to an Automotive Service Association (ASA) Mechanical Division member who strives to be, or is currently working in a management capacity.

Zurich introduced the scholarship program specifically to address the educational needs of the automotive aftermarket.

To be eligible for the scholarships, applicants must work in the mechanical or collision repair industry, demonstrate an interest in self-improvement through education and training, own or work for a business that is an ASA member in good standing, and if the applicant is not the business owner, must be recommended by the owner. AMI Trustees and their employees, and scholarship selection committees and its employees, are not eligible to apply.

To request a scholarship application, call AMI at 800.272.7467 ext. 241, or complete the scholarship application online at amionline.org.
