April 16, 2012—The early bird registration deadline to attend the 2012 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) has been extended through April 30, organizers of the event announced Monday.

GAAS event organizers said the early bird rate allows attendees to save $200 off of the regular registration fee.

In addition, GAAS 2012 also includes a special registration rate for companies that bring their entire leadership team. After a company pays full price for three individuals from their organization to attend the event, all subsequent attendees from the company are eligible to register at a rate of $250, according to event organizers.

GAAS 2012 is scheduled for May 16-17 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont, Ill., near Chicago. This year’s event will be focused on the theme “One Industry, Endless Opportunities.” The two-day event will feature industry leaders and experts who will examine issues and trends affecting the future of the automotive aftermarket.

GAAS 2012 participants will receive continuing education credits toward the University of the Aftermarket’s professional certificate program. GAAS organizers said the event is also approved by Northwood University for credit toward its Automotive Aftermarket Management degree.

GAAS organizers said all net proceeds generated by the event are invested in the organization’s scholarship fund to help students begin careers in the automotive aftermarket industry.

The annual GAAS event, which began in 1996, is a joint professional educational effort sponsored by the following organizations: Alliance of State Automotive Aftermarket Associations (ASAAA), Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA), Automotive Industries Association (AIA) of Canada, Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association (APRA), Automotive Service Association (ASA), Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA), Motorist Assurance Program (MAP), Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA), Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), Tire Industry Association (TIA) and University of the Aftermarket. Polk is the corporate sponsor of the GAAS event.
