Embattled Florida shop receives continued support for insurance fight

June 24, 2011

June 24, 2011 — A fund set up to provide financial assistance to Gunder’s Auto Center in Lakeland, Fla. as it continues a slander and tortious interference lawsuit against State Farm Insurance has received another large donation.

The Collision Industry Legal Fund, as it is called, recently received a $2,500 check from a donor who made the same contribution last year. The donor was not named. Such donations have been used to support Gunder’s Auto Center in its litigation, which also accuses State Farm of failure to pay for certain repair procedures.

Gunder said he was grateful for the financial support he’s received from people he doesn’t know from across the county. The donations have encouraged him to continue the lawsuit, he said.

“I’m humbled at the support we’ve received and encouraged to continue on with our efforts to level the playing field,” he said.

Gunder said his fight is not just about his shop and customers, or just about State Farm. He said he’s doing it for repairers and customers throughout the U.S. who have faced similar issues.
