AMI celebrates training milestone

Nov. 21, 2012

Nov. 21, 2012—The Automotive Management Institute (AMI), a provider of management education for the automotive mechanical and collision repair industries, recently achieved a major milestone by awarding more than 2.5 million training credits since the program launched in 1989.

The continuing education offered by AMI helps automotive service professionals improve their business management skills in five core areas: financial management, marketing and sales, operations and service, management and administration, and personnel and human resource development. In addition to business management classes, AMI also offers its Accredited Automotive Manager (AAM) designation—a business education accreditation.

Toni Slaton, executive director of AMI, said the organization enrolls more than 10,000 people in roughly 700 approved training courses annually. AMI has trained more than 212,000 automotive professionals to date.

“AMI has continued to grow and succeed because continuing education is an excellent investment. Without a doubt, a well-educated workforce is more prepared to meet the challenges of today’s rapidly changing industry,” said Tony Passwater, chairman of AMI. “To maintain a competitive advantage, businesses can strongly benefit from an investment in their employees.”
