July 12, 2012

July 12, 2012—The Certified Automotive Parts Association (CAPA) has elected Tim Adelman, executive vice president of business development for ABRA Inc., to the collision repairer position on its board of directors.

CAPA said Adelmann will fill the board’s collision repairer position vacated by Mike West, who recently retired and closed his repair center based in Tukwila, Wash.

“Tim Adelmann is a long-standing and respected leader in the collision repair industry and we are excited to have him join CAPA’s efforts to ensure that the market has truly high quality alternative parts,” said Jack Gillis, executive director of CAPA. “Tim will be a valuable resource as CAPA continues to expand on its diversity of standards and growth in part availably.”

Adelmann has worked for ABRA since 1985. In addition to his current role, he has served the company as a location general manager, vice president of operations and chief operating officer, CAPA said. Adelmann also serves on the Collision Repair Education Foundation’s board of trustees.

CAPA’s full 11-member board includes the following:

• Tim Adelmann, ABRA Inc.
• Ben Steinman, Ben's Auto Body
• Clark Plucinski, Boyd Group
• Ben Kelley, Center for Auto Safety
• Bill Brower, Liberty Mutual Insurance

• Bill DeGrocco, GEICO
• Jack Gillis, CAPA
• John Palumbo, PartsChannel Inc.
• Ed Salamy, K.S.I. Trading Corp.
• Carol Waldron, State Farm Mutual Insurance

“Tim brings an extraordinary amount of ‘hands-on’ knowledge of the repair shop industry to CAPA’s board. We are thrilled to have Tim join CAPA’s efforts protecting both the market and consumers from poor quality parts,” said Clark Plucinski, president of CAPA’s board.
