Van Tuyl Group to Donate Six Recycled Rides Vehicles

Dec. 12, 2012

Dec. 12, 2012—Six collision repair centers affiliated with the Van Tuyl Group Inc. in Phoenix next week will donate six refurbished vehicles to families in need through the National Auto Body Council’s (NABC) 2012 Recycled Rides program.

Recycled Rides is a national community service project spearheaded by the NABC. The initiative connects auto body repairers, automobile insurers, parts suppliers and other industry vendors to refurbish and donate vehicles to needy families across the country.

The following six Van Tuyl Group shops provided labor to refurbish the vehicles:

• ABC Collision Center
• Collision Center of Peoria
• Bell Collision Center
• Camelback Toyota Collision Center
• Midway Collision Center
• Van Collision Center

Several other organizations made in-kind donations to make the vehicle restorations possible, including: Enterprise Rent-A-Car, LKQ Corp., 3M, PPG, Travelers Insurance, Wal-Mart, Jiffy Lube, Shell Oil, Cobblestone Auto Spa, Lakeshore Learning Center, Airpark Tint, All-City Towing and Valley Towing.

A vehicle gifting event for all six refurbished cars will take place Dec. 17 at Camelback Toyota Collision Center. The vehicles will be donated to qualified recipients identified by three nonprofit organizations based in Phoenix—Crisis Nursery, 1-800-Charity Cars, and Fighter Country Foundation.

“At its most basic, the goal of Recycled Rides is to help people help themselves,” said Rafael Hinojos, collision business development director for the Van Tuyl Group. “And all of the industry segments commit to playing a part in seeing that happens. Most that participate find it a life-changing experience, and I’m sure the Phoenix event will be no exception.”

“We’re happy to give these families the reliable transportation that can help provide them a fresh start,” said Jim Ocampo, co-chairman of the NABC’s Recycled Rides committee. “We’re also very pleased to be able to say that the Phoenix gifting represents only a small fraction the 150 families that received vehicles this year through Recycled Rides. It’s great to be part of a project that clearly illustrates the giving nature of NABC members and the collision repair industry at large.”
