AkzoNobel’s Benevolence Program donates transportation to 25 families

Dec. 20, 2011

Dec. 20, 2011—Collision centers throughout the United States and Canada will donate transportation to 25 families during AkzoNobel’s 13th annual Acoat selected International Benevolence Program, held December 12-23.

The Benevolence Program is a community service initiative sponsored by AkzoNobel to improve and promote the image of the collision repair industry. Collision repair centers that are members of the company’s Sikkens Acoat selected program refurbish vehicles that are written off by owners or insurance companies. Those shops work with local charitable organizations during the holiday season to identify an individual or group in need of donated transportation.

AkzoNobel said other local merchants donate gifts to accompany the vehicle, including: auto insurance, oil changes, car washes, grocery store gift cards, clothing, toys and books.

“Our Acoat selected members have refurbished and donated more than 325 cars since 1999,” said Barry Rinehart, North American services manager for AkzoNobel. “This program has become even more relevant with the economic downturn that has impacted so many in the last few years. The gift of dependable transportation, that many of us take for granted, can be the turning point for some to get their life back on track. We are honored to be associated with these businesses that ensure that others can have a better life.”
