Feb. 14, 2011 — The U.S. House of Representatives’ Transportation and Infrastructure Committee is planning to host a series of public meetings on pending major transportation legislation, according to an advisory from the Automotive Service Association (ASA).
The meetings are meant to help the committee evaluate the nation’s highway and transit safety programs, with the goal of improving transportation infrastructure and promoting job creation. Attendees will include state and local leaders and transportation officials.
“The best ideas to improve and streamline government programs often come from outside of Washington, and before we draft any legislation these meetings will provide the committee with valuable insight and information,” said Rep. John Mica, R-Fla., chairman of the committee.
The meetings will begin Feb. 14 in West Virginia. At least a dozen other sessions across numerous states are planned through Feb. 25.
