May 13, 2011—The Automotive Service Association (ASA) briefed congressional members this week on the needs of the automotive service and repair industry during its 2011 “Taking the Hill” day in Washington D.C.
ASA members highlighted the need for Congress to do the following:
• Provide incentives for state motor vehicle safety inspection programs, as well as a national study on safety inspection programs.
• Support the enforcement of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) auto refinishing regulation.
• Support independent repairers having input in the Federal Insurance Office’s report on insurance regulation.
• Support vehicle disclosure legislation.
• Oppose House Bill 1449 Right to Repair legislation.
• Support funding for vocational education programs.
