SEMA’s Automotive Scholarship Applications Now Available

Jan. 21, 2013

Jan. 21, 2013—Applications for automotive student scholarships are now available through the 2013 SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund.

SEMA said all students who are pursuing careers in the automotive or automotive parts industries are eligible for the financial assistance. The scholarships, worth up to $5,000, are one-time financial rewards that do not have to be paid back. The scholarships will be granted based on each applicant’s academic achievements, work experience, community involvement, essay content and recommendations.

The SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund has increased the value this year for each scholarship offered. It’s Top Student award was raised from $4,000 to $5,000, scholarships for students attending four-year programs raised from $2,000 to $3,000, and scholarships for students attending two-year programs raised from $1,000 to $2,000.

“Students coming through the SEMA Scholarship Program have demonstrated such great potential. We’ve increased the scholarship prizes to reward and better help prepare these students for careers in the specialty-equipment industry,” said Jamie Eriksen, education director for SEMA. “Our hope is that we’ll continue to attract highly qualified students who will contribute and make strong, positive impacts in our industry.”

The application deadline for each scholarship offered through the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund is March 29. Application and submission details are available online at sema.org/scholarships.

SEMA is also offering a loan forgiveness award to recent graduates who are working for SEMA-member companies and paying off existing student loans. Details and applications for the loan-forgiveness awards are also available online at sema.org/scholarships.
