Jan. 6, 2014—Ford announced on Monday that its sales in China for 2013 have increased 49 percent over last year’s sales.
Ford China sold 935,813 vehicles in 2013, with December sales up 35 percent. December alone saw the sale of 94,838 vehicles.
"2013 has proved to be a milestone year for Ford's accelerated growth in China as we delivered on our plan to bring to China seven of Ford's next-generation global vehicles, including the Ford EcoSport, the Ford Kuga, the new Fiesta, and the all-new Mondeo,” said John Lawler, chairman and CEO of Ford Motor China. “In 2013, strong Chinese customer demand for our greatly expanded lineup of vehicles allowed Ford China to set yet another annual sales record."
In 2013, Ford also dramatically expanded its imported vehicle offerings in China, with the introduction of the Ford Focus ST, the Ford Fiesta ST, and the Ford Explorer. Alongside the Ford Edge, these four imported nameplates accounted for 26,856 wholesales in 2013, up 231 percent from 8,108 in 2012.
As reported by Ford last Friday, sales have been good in North America as well, capping off a year of increased sales and new sales records.
