Education Foundation receives 70 Makeover grant applications

Sept. 24, 2012

Sept. 24, 2012—The Collision Repair Education Foundation recently announced that 70 schools from 31 U.S. states applied to receive its 2012 Ultimate Collision Education Makeover $50,000 school grant.

One secondary and one post-secondary collision repair school will be selected for this year’s grant. The two winning schools will be announced at the Education Foundation’s industry reception during the 2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The reception is scheduled for Oct. 30 at 9:30 p.m. at the Las Vegas Hotel.

“I would like to congratulate these Makeover applicant schools for taking the time to complete the application. The Education Foundation will work to see that all of the applicant schools will benefit from this grant,” said Clark Plucinski, executive director of the Education Foundation. “As the Education Foundation now has the itemized $50,000 wish lists for all of these collision programs, we can reach out to our industry partners and work to have those items donated.”

Plucinski said collision industry professionals and companies are still able to make monetary or in-kind donations to help each of the applicant schools fulfill their wish lists.

Since 2009, the Education Foundation has donated more than $500,000 in products and grants to school applicants that did not receive the Makeover grant. The Education Foundation said it will distribute each non-winning school’s wish list of needed tools, equipment and supplies to industry companies in order to foster donations.

Industry organizations interested in helping to fulfill the wish lists of this year’s Makeover grant school applicants should contact Brandon Eckenrode, associate director of development for the Education Foundation, at [email protected].
