Feb. 15, 2012—Sterling Autobody Centers recently expressed its support for Operation Comfort’s Automotivation program by presenting the organization with a $1,500 check to purchase additional equipment for the program.
Operation Comfort, which was founded in 2004, provides support to wounded military service members who are receiving treatment at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Operation Comfort’s Automotivation program gives those service members opportunities to work on cars and develop skills to work in the automotive industry.
“Automotivation not only provides soldiers with an outlet during their recovery process, but it helps provide the skills and training needed to pursue a career in auto body repair. This is an excellent opportunity for us to partner with Operation Comfort to share their story and help gain awareness and support for their program,” said Nick Notte, president of Sterling Autobody. “It is my hope that the collision industry will come together to provide the resources, both funding and equipment, to further this program and support those who have given so much for our country.”
In 2011, Sterling Autobody said it worked with wounded service members to help paint a 1966 Cobra kit car. The company also provided financial support to several Automotivation participants to send them to the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas to showcase the vehicle.
“Our work with Operation Comfort last year was just the beginning of a long term commitment to support this great group of men who have served our country,” said Chris Brandl, director of sales and marketing for Sterling Autobody. “We recently presented the organization with a check for $1500 to help purchase equipment, and we plan to work closely with them to ensure they have what they need for their continued success.”
Sterling Autobody said several of its employees are now personally donating equipment to the Automotivation program, such as hand tools and tool boxes. The company also produced a video that highlights the program and its participants.
