May 23, 2013

May 23, 2013—Cliff and Curt Hovis of Hovis Auto and Truck Supply were awarded with the 2013 Mort Schwartz Excellence in Education Award this week during the Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) in Chicago.

The Hovis brothers were recognized for the construction of the Hovis Technical Training Center in Grove City, Pa., a 10,000-square-foot training facility they constructed to provide education to vehicle service and repair technicians, machinists, and paint and body specialists.

The center offers an education curriculum that brings together trainers in the automotive, heavy duty, paint and body industries to teach the latest technology, techniques and applications in their field.

Since opening in 2011, the center has taught more than 1,702 technicians.

The Mort Schwartz Award, which is administered by the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) Education Committee, was created to reward innovation of new aftermarket education programs and the advancement of existing programs.
