Sept. 23, 2011—The Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Foundation recently announced it will participate in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) in an effort to raise scholarship and grant money for military veterans enrolled in technical school programs.
CFC is an annual workplace fundraising campaign conducted by military and federal employees. This is the second consecutive year that the UTI Foundation has participated. Last year, the UTI Foundation collected roughly $8,000 during the fundraising drive. All of the money was used to help military veterans enrolled at UTI.
Veronica Meury, vice president and executive director of the UTI Foundation, hopes to raise even more money during this year’s fundraising campaign, which runs through Dec. 15. She said financial assistance from the foundation is valuable for veterans to begin civilian lives and transition into a technical career.
"The CFC is such a powerful program, especially because 100 percent of what we raise goes directly to veterans," Meury said. "It helps them jump-start their careers."
Federal employees can support the UTI Foundation by designating national charity #70172, according to the UTI Foundation. All funds received through the CFC will support veterans attending any of the Universal Technical Institute schools, including UTI, Motorcycle Mechanics Institute, NASCAR Tech and Marine Mechanics Institute.
The UTI Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds that support technical education for the automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle, marine and NASCAR industries. The UTI Foundation offers scholarships, grants, career development and other special programs.
