March 13, 2013—The Collision Repair Education Foundation is accepting entries for 3M Automotive Aftermarket Division’s Hire Our Heroes scholarships.
The partnership between the Education Foundation and 3M helps provide support for the nation’s returning veterans and their families through scholarships for collision repair training. 3M said the goal of the Hire Our Heroes effort is to drive employment in the collision repair industry for America’s returning military veterans.
“The men and women who have served our country bring excellent training and skills, a commitment for doing the job correctly, a passion for intellectual achievement and a strong work ethic—all tremendous attributes for employment in today’s collision repair industry,” said Dale Ross, U.S. marketing operations manager for 3M's Automotive Aftermarket Division. “We are committed to helping repair facility owners and managers around the country get the capable, qualified repair professionals they need to perform at the high standards expected in today’s collision industry while honoring the tremendous service of our military men and women.”
The 3M Hire our Heroes program also helps fund rehabilitation for wounded veterans through Operation Comfort’s Automotivation program, an automotive skill-based rehabilitation program.
The enrollment deadline to win scholarship funds is May 15. 3M said scholarships are available for qualifying returning veterans and their immediate family members. The scholarships can be used for tuition, school fees, tools, textbooks and equipment at qualifying technical schools. For more information and to apply, visit collisioneducationfoundation.org.
3M said distributors of 3M products and collision repair shop operators can help fund the Hire our Heroes campaign. 3M will make a monetary donation to the campaign for every purchase of select 3M products. Participating products include the 3M Platinum Plus Body Filler, 3M Platinum Plus Finishing Glaze, Scotch Performance Green Masking Tape 233+, and 3M Purple Clean Sanding Hookit.
3M said shop owners who participate in the program will receive 3M Hire Our Heroes promotional materials for their shops to demonstrate their support.
