UTI appoints 10th member to board of directors

Dec. 19, 2011—Universal Technical Institute Inc. (UTI) recently appointed David Blaszkiewicz to serve on the organization’s board of directors.

Blaszkiewicz, who is UTI’s 10th board member, will serve on the school’s compensation committee.

Blaszkiewicz has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the Detroit business community. He currently serves as president of Invest Detroit, as well as president and CEO of Downtown Detroit Partnership, according to UTI. He leads the organizations' economic and revitalization efforts, and works with the public, private and philanthropic sectors to develop partnerships and strategic plans to support community initiatives and job creation.

"David is a wonderful addition to our board of directors," said Kimberly McWaters, CEO of UTI. "His deep ties within the Detroit business community and his expertise in managing the complexities of municipal growth and revitalization efforts provide a unique set of experiences and capabilities that will benefit UTI."

Blaszkiewicz holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Wayne State University, and a master’s degree in business administration from Michigan State University, according to UTI.

"We are fortunate to add someone with David's demonstrated success in providing the broad strategic thinking and executive management skills needed to bring long term business development projects to fruition.
