SEMA to continue building collision section

Nov. 4, 2011

Las Vegas, Nov. 4, 2011—SEMA organizers hope to continue improving and growing the collision repair and refinish section of the event following a bigger-than-ever collision segment this year.

Peter MacGillivray, senior vice president of events and communications for the SEMA Show, said collision repair has been a hot topic at the show, especially in recent years, as the industry has rapidly evolved. He said the event has seen a 44-percent increase in collision repair interest among buyers compared to last year.

“We hope to continue to build it,” MacGillivray says. “We have wonderful partners and we appreciate their support.”

Final attendance numbers weren’t immediately available at the end of the show, but paid registrations were at 135,000 before the show, and 61,000 of those were buyers. That’s the most buyers SEMA has ever had. Overall, MacGillivray said the 2011 show was an overwhelming success.

“The only disappointed exhibitors this year were the ones that aren’t here,” he said.
